The biggest medical priority of the 21st century.
By 2030, the World Health Organization estimates that half of the worldwide economic impact of disability will be due specifically to brain-related disability. The global toll of brain disorders exceeds that of all other diseases.
Through advances in medical science, public health, and discoveries in neuroscience, for the first time brain illness and prevention can be used in the same sentence. It is estimated that through an increase in protective factors and decrease in risk factors, 35% of dementia (just one brain illness) can be prevented.
The Brain Health Initiative, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that champions innovative initiatives, projects, programs, science, innovation and services that protect brain health, optimize brain performance, and fight brain illness across the lifespan.
The BHI is informed by advisors who are experts in their fields. Faculty from diverse institutions comprise our Strategic Advisors and Brain Health Community Council. The Community Council also includes thought leaders, action takers, and stakeholders across the region.
The BHI's work is supported by an ambitious and committed
group of researchers, clinicians, educators, and program managers with backgrounds in neuroscience, epidemiology, psychology, public health, and administration.
The BHI is supported by individual, corporate,
and foundation donors. Special thanks to: Schroeder - Manatee Ranch, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, and the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation for their leadership support.
